Relationship Quiz Methodology
See how 38 behaviour-based questions produce eight area scores, which published research informed the framework, and why the tool is not clinically validated.
Scoring method
The quiz contains 38 scored questions split across eight areas. Each answer uses a four-point scale. Area scores are normalised to 0–100, and the overall score is the equal-weighted arithmetic mean of all eight areas.
Research sources and limits
Published work by Gottman, Sternberg, Hazan and Shaver, Karney and Bradbury, Joel and colleagues, and other relationship researchers informed the framework. The selection of eight areas, the questions, equal weighting and score bands are Score My Relationship design choices. The quiz has not been independently peer reviewed or clinically validated.
Scores are self-reported snapshots. The current result bands are product-defined interpretive ranges rather than clinical cut-offs or population percentiles.
